Horst Heinrich Mann Obituary, Death – Horst At the age of 84, Heinrich Mann of Hanover unexpectedly passed away at home on Wednesday morning, January 24, 2024. Horst was born on June 26, 1939, in Magdeburg, Germany, to the late Herbert and Tatjana Mann (née Schindel). In 1956, the Mann family relocated to Canada and settled in Toronto. There, he made friends and learned a variety of trades for many years. It was also there that he met Frances, his first wife.
They bought a farm in Durham in 1977 and later relocated there to raise their kids in Neustadt. Horst was well-known in the Neustadt neighborhood as the guy who fixed cameras for both the general public and the professional photographers in the area. He loved to capture moments and have memories that everyone could appreciate, and you could constantly find him fiddling with computers or cameras. He delighted in operating the bus for Kunkel’s and saw children departing for school each day.
He spent fifteen years lovingly living in his country home, which he named Walhalla, after retiring. Along with his wife, he took great satisfaction in tending to the land and plants. survived by her loving spouse Sylvia Mann of Hanover (née Lampertsdoerfer). Cherished father of Hanover residents Monika Leroux and Andreas (Laura) Mann. Particular “Apu” to Riley, Owen, Kaylah, and Dale. Sadly missed by his sister Ingrid Fitzner of Toronto, together with her kids, Ryan and Katie, and Karen (Max) Brugger and Christina Connolly.
The families of Frances’s siblings, Kim and Gerry Yuzwa, will remember Horst. Predeceased by his brother Herbert, his cherished first wife Frances, his parents, and his grandson Dale Leroux. On Monday, January 29, 2024, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., there will be a visitation at Mighton Funeral Home in Hanover.
