Shay Walsh Obituary, Death – Visitation & Funeral Service

Shay Walsh Obituary, Death – Ballyteague GFC and the wider community are in a state of profound grief due to the unexpected passing of Shay Walsh, who was a solid member of our organization. Shay was a wonderful football player and a sportsman for life. He won championships with Allen School, Na Fianna U21s, and of course, his beloved Ballyteague. He was a sportsman for life. While playing for Kildare, he also participated in an All Ireland Junior Final games.

It was Shay who was the driving force behind the establishment of the fundraising drive for Club Ballyteague.
For the past eight years, he has served as the chairman of our underage group, and he continues to hold that position. In a role that he took great pleasure in playing, he completely transformed the youth structures of the club. Not only did he have his amazing wife Lisa at his side for the first several years of his chairmanship.

But they were also a wonderful combination! It is with great regret that we announce Lisa’s passing in 2021; her memory will live on in Ballyteague forever. The loss of Shay will create a significant vacuum not only in his family but also in Ballyteague and in the town he lived in. His legacy will be defined by his amazing “can do” attitude, his capacity to triumph over challenges, and his ability to complete the task at hand.

As a result of Shay and Lisa’s contributions to the underage structures that our club currently possesses, we owe them a tremendous amount of gratitude. The club will never forget him as possibly one of the best full backs it has ever had, and he will always be remembered as such. The epitome of a gentleman and an excellent organizer.
My deepest condolences go out to Mark, James, Tom, Brendan, Liam, Ger, Catherine, Mary, and Trish, as well as to his grandmother-in-law Bernie and the rest of his extended family. Ar dheis Dé, I give you a raibh an anam.
