Teresita Williams Obituary, Death – Teresita (Ter) Williams (née Galway) died peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the company of her beloved family. Ter, who was born on March 2, 1925, lived an exceptional life in which she influenced everyone she touched. Tommy Williams, her husband of 42 years, her parents, Denis and Catherine Galway, as well as her siblings and brother Mary, Mercedes, Catherine, Sheila, Gertrude, Carmel, Denis, and Barbara, all died before her. Tommy (Rhonda), Nancy Taylor (Mel), Danny (Elizabeth), and Edward (Anne); Jillian, Daniel, Jane, Katie, Heather, Heidi, Cynthia, Jeffrey, Darcy, Christopher, Andrea, and Michael; great-grandchildren Abbi, Gabe, Charlotte, Elliott, Evangeline, Ella, William, Sally Rose, Lily Kate, Macy, Louis, Everly Teresita, and Jack; and an extended extended family comprising numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

Ter, an exceptional individual who quietly embraced life with assurance and desire, was steadfast in his pursuit of experiencing everything that existence has to offer, including familial commitments, career contentment, and the satisfaction that comes from charitable endeavours. In her adolescence, she studied at the New York School of Dance to pursue her passion for dance. After returning to St. John’s, she taught dance and physical education at the Mercy Convent with her sisters for many years. Ter and her sisters were given the coveted Galway Girls title by the Canadian Dance Hall of Fame.

Ter was an animal lover, enthusiastic reader, and painter. Her passion, however, came to fruition in politics, where she actively participated in campaigns at both the provincial and federal levels. Ter passed on her enthusiasm for public service and politics to her children, culminating in her eldest son being sworn in as Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier. Ter was a devoted Catholic woman with faith. Ter was, above all, an exceptional grandma and mother. Teresita and her husband, Tommy, instilled in their children the value of work and generosity while also cultivating a strong feeling of familial tie. They showed generosity to their community and people around them through their thoughts and acts. Ter was particularly inspired by her grandkids and offspring’s great accomplishments.
